Analysing voltaic cell
|
Learning Outcome
|
Student is able to :
a) Describe the structure of a simple voltaic cell and Daniell cell. b) Explain the production of electricity from a simple voltaic cell. c) Explain the reactions in a simple voltaic cell and Daniell cell. d) Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of various voltaic cells. e) Describe the differences between electrolytic and voltaic cells. |
Activities
|
Study the structure of a voltaic cell and Daniell cell. Discuss and
compare an electrolytic cell with voltaic cell.
|
Noble Values
|
Appreciating the balance of nature.

b) Reference book |
Reflection
|
Today’s
objectives are fully achieved. At first students do not understand today’s
lesson. They confuse about the process between voltaic cell and electrolytic
cell because the concept of electrodes for electrolytic cell also can be
applied to voltaic cell. Teacher does comparison based on diagram and also
the process to make it clearer. Teacher also gives examples of Daniell cell to
make them understand better. Finally, all of students understand well and
find it is easier than electrolytic cell. Teacher gives exercises to evaluate
student’s understanding.

concept of acids and bases. They are weak on writing the equation to show the
ionization of acid and bases. Teacher has to guide them personally and
explain again the ionization process. The rest of students do not have
problems with today’s lesson. Teacher gives exercises to test their
understanding.

also understand well the chemical properties of acid. Teacher asks three
students to explain each chemical properties of acid and give question on the
spot. Fortunately, all of them are able to give correct answers and explain
to their friends. Teacher gives exercises to evaluate their knowledge.
